Community, Hope, and Recognition
Connecting with the folx who find comfort and bravery in our studio is the most fulfilling part of our job. We are eternally grateful that there are so many people willing to join us in the fight against the toxic diet culture standards that are so prevalent in the health and fitness industries . Our community provides hope that we can band together to lift people up and encourage them to take up space, which is desperately needed in these times.
Supporting Local Organizations with Strength, Conditioning, and Joyful Movement
What is better than an inclusive gym that has no mirrors, encourages joyful movement, and truly believes that health can be accomplished at any size? A gym that does all of these things while supporting other local organizations that service the community with love, purpose, and inclusivity.
Built on HAES-Fitness Focused on All Bodies: What is a Health at Every Size (HAES) Aligned gym?
You walk into a new gym after spending some time hyping yourself up to step through that door. You are met with a warm, smiling face; someone who is genuinely excited to meet you. You take in the vibe of the space and instantly feel some stress leave your body. “How is this a gym?”
What is Joyful Movement?
Let’s play a quick word association game: When you hear the word “exercise”, what is the first thing you think of? For many, words like “exertion, exhaustion, challenge, and pain” may come to mind. For others, they might be thinking “sweat, hard work, or the gym”. And still others, probably have a visceral reaction to the word, shaking their head to clear away feelings of intimidation, inadequacy, fear, rejection, or failure.
What Does Being HAES-Aligned Mean?
Unrealistic societal values of a “perfect” body type have masked the importance of listening to our own bodies. No one needs to constantly be told they are “too big”, “too fat”, “too thin”, “too” anything. HAES aligned personal trainers strive to reinforce the fact that bodies come in a spectrum of shapes and sizes and that one’s health cannot accurately be determined by a judgemental glance.
